Stockton Council is inviting families to be at the very heart of the Borough’s largest community celebration.
The hugely popular Community Carnival will take over Stockton High Street from noon on Saturday, 6 August and you can be part of the must-see event.
Carnival workshops aimed at families will take place throughout July giving people of all ages the chance to create fantastic costumes and headdresses.
The dates are:
Saturday, 2 July – 2pm until 4pm
Saturday, 9 July – 2pm until 4pm
Saturday, 16 July – 2pm until 4pm
Saturday, 23 July – 2pm until 4pm
They will be held at Spark, Bishopton Road West, and are open to family groups – all children must be accompanied by an adult.
This year’s carnival theme is ‘Dare to Dream’ and is inspired by everything to do with dreams, hopes and aspirations for the future. The theme was chosen as the winning entry to the People’s Choice competition which gave people the opportunity to come up with the idea for the parade.
So far, 60 groups have signed to be part of the Carnival.
Lyndsey Stephenson, Stockton Council’s Arts Development Officer, said: “The Community Carnival is one of the highlights of the region’s cultural calendar.
“The costumes and structures make for a great spectacle and these workshops will be the perfect opportunity for families to spend time together getting creative.”
