The theme for this year’s SIRF community carnival is Dare to Dream? and it will explore both the dreams we have whilst we sleep and our dreams and aspirations for the future. The theme was chosen as the winning entry to our People’s Choice competition which gave local people the opportunity to come up with the idea and title for this year’s parade. The winner was Mark Watson from Stockton and he says:
“I came up with the idea of Dare to Dream? after a couple of generally difficult years (family, work, health, the usual sort of problems that everyone has), and during that time I have always looked at the good things around me, my wife, my children and the rest of my family. We have always been there to support each other in what ever we have done and we have achieved things we would have never thought possible for us, simply because we have dared to dream.”
Mark and his son Jamie will be this year’s Carnival Kings and will lead this year’s carnival. Look out for Mark and Jamie at the front of this year’s parade!
This is an exciting year for the carnival as we begin our journey to our super-sized carnival in 2012 – join in and become part of something special.
